BYLAWS OF RAW STEEL HOCKEY(Revised October 2011)

BYLAW 1.0 - OFFICIAL EMBLEM of RAW STEEL

1.1      The official emblem for RAW STEEL HOCKEY CLUB are the words RAW STEEL with RAW on top and STEEL below slightly indented and smaller font.  The letter 'R' in RAW is further pronounced with a hockey stick replacing the down stroke.


1.2       No alteration of the RAW STEEL HOCKEY emblem is permitted without written authorization from the RAW STEEL HOCKEY executive management.

1.3       RAW STEEL HOCKEY executive management shall select a location for club operations.  The Rinks 5555 McFadden Ave Huntington Beach, California 92649 and The Rinks 3150 Barranca Parkway Irvine, California 92606, are designated as the official training sites for RAW STEEL HOCKEYTaking advantage of virtual technology, the hub of RAW STEEL HOCKEY operations is www.rawsteelhockey.org .

BYLAW 2.0 - FISCAL AND Financial

2.1       Playing Season. The Playing Season is September 1st Through August 31st.

2.2       Each RAW STEEL HOCKEY team is financially managed independent of the RAW STEEL HOCKEY club.
2.2.1    Practices - Each RAW STEEL HOCKEY team is responsible for their team practice fees.
2.2.2    Tournaments - Each RAW STEEL HOCKEY team is responsible for their tournament entry fees. NOTE: Due to the nature and expense associated with tournament fees, the team manager may choose to collect tournament fees in advance to ensure team placement in tournaments and to secure player commitment.  Since tournament fees are shared amongst RAW STEEL HOCKEY players and families, refunds to tournament fees, once submitted to the tournament organizer, are not reimbursable.

2.3       Uniforms – The official RAW STEEL HOCKEY team uniform consists of the authorized RAW STEEL jersey, the authorized RAW STEEL pant, and a home (white) and away (black) helmet.  Equipment other than the team uniform including: gloves, skates, sticks, wheels, or any other equipment worn by the player that openly displays the manufacturer’s emblem or logo shall be of the club sponsors: Mission Hockey, Bauer, and Labeda (excluding any covered protective gear (elbow/hip/shin protecgtion).
2.3.1    All RAW STEEL HOCKEY teams are required to wear the official RAW STEEL HOCKEY team uniform during tournament play unless exception has been granted by the team’s coach.
2.3.2    Each RAW STEEL HOCKEY team is responsible for procuring the appropriate number of uniforms needed for players on their roster.
2.3.3   At no time shall any emblem/logo/sticker or mark be permanently or temporarily affixed upon the official RAW STEEL HOCKEY team uniform without review and approval from an executive member of RAW STEEL HOCKEY management.
2.3.4   Any emblem/logo/sticker or mark authorized to be permanently or temporarily affixed upon the official RAW STEEL HOCKEY team uniform shall be consistent with the RAW STEEL HOCKEY Core Values and shall not be in direct conflict with RAW STEEL HOCKEY sponsors.

2.4       The team manager is the designated person responsible for control of team funds/assets.

2.5       The RAW STEEL HOCKEY executive management reserves the right to examine team accounts at any time given reasonable concern or complaint of in proprietary handling of team assets/accounts.

2.6       RAW STEEL UNIVERSITY (RSU) - RSU practice and event fees are due the day of the practice or event and may be paid in advance of the practice or event once advertised.
 

BYLAW 3.0 - MEMBERSHIP
3.1       AAU Membership is required of all persons who participate in RAW STEEL HOCKEY events in the following capacity:
>Athletes
>Coaches
>Club Contacts
>Members of the RAW STEEL HOCKEY management (Club Contact or Club Designated Representative)

3.2       AAU individual membership must be completed and submitted to the team manager. Note that all AAU individual memberships expire on August 31st of the membership year. All membership applications must be processed on-line at www.aausports.org or through the AAU National Office.
3.2.1    The RAW STEEL HOCKEY AAU L3 Club Code for the 2012 season is: XTB9E8

3.3      RAW STEEL HOCKEY membership is only upon approval of the coach and team manager from which the person/family seeks membership.

3.3.1    There is a Registration Fee for all returning and new players for each playing season. Registration fees are announced during the registration period.

3.3.2    There are no recurring club dues for RAW STEEL HOCKEY.
3.3.3    There are no recurring team dues for RAW STEEL HOCKEY.

3.4       Team Development. RAW STEEL HOCKEY does not advocate the recruitment of players from other teams or clubs.  Players join RAW STEEL HOCKEY on their own accord after reviewing the team website and supporting materials.

3.4.1    Player positions on RAW STEEL HOCKEY teams is subject to availability.  RSU and Prospect Clinics will be used as sources to fill open positions.

3.4.2    RSU and Prospect Clinics will be announced on www.rawsteelhockey.org.


3.5       Team Attachment. A youth member becomes attached to a team when the family of a minor player commits to the team coach either verbally or in writing.  A youth member will also become attached to a team when he/she is on the roster as a regular player with that team during a sanctioned event (practice not included).  Players are allowed to substitute on other team rosters provided the substitution does not create ineligibility of any kind for the RAW STEEL HOCKEY team for subsequent events
3.5.1    An attached youth member may transfer to another team under the following conditions:

Transfers within RAW STEEL HOCKEY
>Player movement between RAW STEEL HOCKEY teams is not allowed except by mutual agreement between team coaches and approval from the RAW STEEL HOCKEY Head Coach.

Transfers outside of RAW STEEL HOCKEY
>All transfers out of RAW STEEL HOCKEY or on to a RAW STEEL HOCKEY team are subject to the rules and regulations of AAU and other tournament Registrars from which the team has competed.  Players transferring on to a RAW STEEL HOCKEY team must also comply with the RAW STEEL HOCKEY Bylaws.

>When transferring off of a RAW STEEL HOCKEY team, the player must complete the appropriate
release form permitting an immediate release and obtain written approval from the RAW STEEL HOCKEY Head Coach.  (Players released under this provision are subject to National Championship eligibility restrictions as adopted by National Sport Committees.)

When transferring on to a RAW STEEL HOCKEY team, the player must provide the appropriate release form from their prior team permitting immediate release along with the approval from the authorized official representing that team. Players transferring on to a RAW STEEL HOCKEY team must also comply with the RAW STEEL HOCKEY Bylaws

BYLAW4. 0 - COMPETITION
4.1       Level of play (A, AA, AAA) for a RAW STEEL HOCKEY team during regular season will be decided by the coaching staff of the team.

4.2       Special Competition.
Movement of players between RAW STEEL HOCKEY teams is subject to conditions set forth under Bylaw 3.4.1.

4.3       National Championship.
Movement of players between RAW STEEL HOCKEY teams is subject to conditions set forth under Bylaw 3.4.1.

BYLAW5. 0 – COMPOSITION OF RAW STEEL HOCKEY MANAGEMENT
5.1       The executive members and senior leadership of RAW STEEL HOCKEY CLUB are:

5.1.1    Tony Ferrer, founder and President of RAW STEEL HOCKEY CLUB
5.1.2    Bruce Kunichika, Vice President of RAW STEEL HOCKEY CLUB
5.1.3    Christie Weber, Director of RAW STEEL HOCKEY CLUB

5.2       Team managers of RAW STEEL HOCKEY CLUB vary from season to season and are identified on the RAW STEEL HOCKEY website at www.rawsteelhockey.org.
5.2.1    The body of RAW STEEL HOCKEY CLUB management is comprised of the executive members of RAW STEEL HOCKEY and a single representative from each RAW STEEL HOCKEY team.  This representative can be the;
>Team Manager,
>Team Coach,
>Team Designee.
5.2.2    Membership to RAW STEEL HOCKEY CLUB management is subject to approval by the executive members of RAW STEEL HOCKEY CLUB. 

BYLAW6. 0 - Player Council

6.1       The Director of the Player Council will be a member of the Raw Steel 

            Hockey Youth Coaches.

6.2       Player Council will be comprised of members from RAW STEEL HOCKEY Bantam, Midget, and Junior teams.
 

BYLAW7. 0 – DISMISSAL from RAW STEEL
7.1       Failure to comply with or uphold the RAW STEEL HOCKEY CORE VALUES, the RAW STEEL HOCKEY CODE of CONDUCT or the RAW STEEL HOCKEY BYLAWs will be subject for dismissal as decided by the executive members of RAW STEEL HOCKEY management.

RAW STEEL HOCKEY CLUB is organized as a subordinate on the National AAU's Group 501(c)3 tax exemption and is affiliated with the Amateur Athletic Union of the U.S. Inc.
